JPS Silver Rolling Tobacco

Filed under Product News, Tobacco News {3 comments}

With the increase in RYO (Roll Your Own) smokers in the UK, the market is growing. Many people making the switch have never smoked rollies before, leaving them with an increasing array of brands to choose from. One technique tried over the years, was producing known brands. This has probably happened earlier, but then i would be too young to recall. My first experience with this was Mayfair Rolling Tobacco, packaged much like Amberleaf in a box with papers. (Im sure this was replaced by Amberleaf!) Gauloise is a good example, people buy this because they know its going to be dark, strong and very French.

Gallahers/JTL tried Benson & Headges RYO again a few years ago, this never took off with us but i hear it sells well else where. We dont recommended it as we have many similar alternatives, we already use and smoke.  We have had people who used the B&H as there first attempt with rolling, but soon got into the more specialist brands.

So when i heard Imperial where having a go, i got onto my rep for more info.  After a few requests and emails i finally got my mits on the information sheets no tobacco though. Based on the brand & colours its a milder blend, also it says “‘Smoother blend’ akin to other Yellow pack blend style”. As you would expect no info on the blend, BUT it is quiet damp and cut at less than 0.5mm(Very fine cut). So im guessing its a Cutter Choice style blend, damp and relatively mild. It is very competitively priced, RRP (before the budget) £2.79 for 12.5 grams. It will be available in 12.5 & 25 grams pack, both price marked and not.

I will review this new blend as soon as i get hold of some.

    This stuff is really nice, I buy it instead of cutters choice now especially since cutters went up by 36p in the space of 2 hours. This has to be the nicest tobacco I have had in a long time, and it’s the cheapest.

    One thing I noticed, it’s made by Imperial Tobacco, who makes Golden Virginia, it’s odd seeing the most expensive tobacco company now producing the cheapest tobacco. All I can say is Bargain and I hope it doesn’t go up in price as well or I might start getting imports like most people.
