New Products and Lost Products

With the budget behind us, closely behind atleast. I am finding my bag full of price lists, new and old. My evenings filled with excel and the feeling of frustration at the higher prices you(well as long as you are a British, smoker of duty paid tobacco) and i have to pay. But all is not lost, there is some new products coming our way soon.

Cigarettes

Chesterfield – This brand has never been overly popular in the shop. The price was dropped last year and sales still crawled. This cant be case elsewhere in the UK, or Phillip Morris have gone mad. The range is being expanded soon, with 10′s (Full Flavour), Smooth and Menthols in 10′s.

Virginia S – Raffles is another Phillip Morris brand, that has never been a mover really. This must be common as the smooth has now been droped. The name has changed too, “Virginia S”!.

Marlboro Gold Touch – Marlboro slims are coming, i was waiting for this. Half expecting the edge i saw in Dubai, im guessing the “Marlboro Light”  name is still cool to millions.  From reading an article over on http://www.cigarette-store.org/info/new-marlboro-brands-marlboro-gold-touch-and-marlboro-gold-fine-touch it seems these cigarettes will be the standard King Size length, but only 7.1mm wide complete with 2 part charcoal filter system. 0.4mg of Nicotine and 4mg Tar, but this may not be true for the UK version.

Vogue Pearl – Sticking with the slims, BAT are introudicng 2 more variants, to the Vogue range. Going under the name of Pearl Bronze and Pearl Menthol. I dont know much more than that, but they like the Marloboro are a more budget line!

JTI/Gallahers & 14′s - When Royals came in 12′s i smoked them, those 2 extra smokes helped, when spending my college lunch money.  So a few years ago when Gallahers rolled out Camel and B&H 14′s, i wasn’t that shocked. Camel didnt last long and im surprised the B&H Gold 14 has too. The B&H Silver with its “Price Mark” sells slowly, even when i have 10′s at full price (not price marked). So when i heard Mayfair and Silkcut 14′s where coming i wondered why. Making the Mayfair range bigger on gantries, Kingsize Full Flavour and Smooth will be avaliable. Silkcut 14′s are already about now, i saw them in my local petrol station, wasnt even aware i could order them!

Treasurer Executive – The Slims have been a slow seller and yet again its another conundrum. Cheaper than most slims, no additives, coloured paper and filters BUT still slow. These King Size cigarettes might tip the balance, being released again in the 4 variants. Black-Full Flavour, Black Paper & Gold Filter. White-Smooth Flavour, White Paper & White Filter. Gold-Smooth Flavour, Gold Paper & White Filter. SilverSmooth Flavour, White Paper & Silver Filter.

Saint Luis Rey – Regios (Tubed) – Finally these are out, been a slow start but im sure they will sell. Read my Regio review from last year

Calisto - Again not been told anything by rep on this one. Made by “J R Freeman” (Hamlet), these budget minis may take off if enough stock them! 50p a pack cheaper than Hamlet, Classic and Cafe Creme miniatures. More on these when i find out more.

Cohiba Behike - The Behike range (52, 54 & 56) have been put in the standard range, there availability is still limited. This should see this brand available year on year.

La Casa del Habano – The Global Habano store, Casa Del Habano has its own brands revived and rebanded. Last year a few where released for the rest of us, the Bolivar Gold Label for one. This year a few more are being sold outside of there stores. 3 San Cristobal de la Habana vitolas.

Hoyo De Monterrey Tubed – Released back in 2010, but figured its worth mentioning. The Epicures No1 & No2 are now available tubed, in 3 packs along side the Epcicure Especiales.

7 Seas Cherry - Rumours a foot that we should be seeing this very soon. Light, sweet, cherry aromatics do we need more?

Dunill – Night Cap – Now this is going to please many of you. Its coming back, September time im being told. But it you remember the relaunch last year, the dates changed and changed! America got this last year and for the life of me, i cant se why Tor didnt too.

Salsa – Released by Scandinavian Tobacco, i have no news on this product. All i know is it will be in 12.5g, 25g, 50g packs and be priced with the budget hand rolling blends.

Its not all new lines, there has been a few casualties over the last torturous year. The following products have been delisted, some may still be in stock for while. If your a big smoker of any of these items, buy them why you can!
