The Authentics – Back Down To Earth

The Authentics are back again and have brought out their 5th album which they have recordeed themselves, these guys certainly put effort into their work. The Authentics are one of those bands who really work hard at their music, and put out spectacular sound. 100% goes into every CD and every live show they do, and they have done many a live shows, through Leicster and Nottingham, Derby and they are even playing at the “Cavern club” in Liverpool. The band is a four piece, with two guittarists, a bassist, and a drumemr. The Authentics can be likened to punk-rock band, they are certainly a band that , you can’t help but enjoy their music, they make it so well, there is a wide range of genres that they pull into their music, never sticking with one. these guys play their own unique sound, with catchy guitar and bass riffs, funky guitar solos, and very punk-rock vocals from lead singer Mike. The first song on their new album Back down to earth, hits you straight in the gut with its catchy riffs and strong, drumming, you can really feel the presence of theses guys. The vocals hit you, they are punky, catchy and well thought out. It is easy to see why theses guys have a devoted fan base and have been the subject of coverage by the national press including the BBC. You can really feel the ebrgy when listening to this song, the guitar have beautifully crafted rolling catchy riffs, whilst their solos are more subtle slightly less in your face as the riffs they produce. Their second song Natural born thriller, this song starts with the drums and guiatr coming in heavy at first, it gradually calms down only to suddenly become hevay again. At this point the vocals come in and hit you, the vocals at the start remind me slightly of a Guns N Roses track Civil War, where the vocals are are quite distorted in places, it adds a different, but at the same time punky edge to the song. This song has drums sections which range from slightly heavy to very heavy in places, which gives the song a generally much heavier feel to it than then back down to earth. Popstar/Rockstar is a track which is not as heavy as the previous, but the vocal are sung very fast, with shouting of the words rockstar. I feel that this song is in terms of the instruments is played well, and the riffs, combined with the drumming gives a good sound. But the lyrics in this song I feel could be slightly better, for me they are a little cheesy, which is a shame because the vocalist has a fantastic voice. Summing it up, I personally would definatly go and pay to see theses guys play live.
