Decadent rockers The Authentics strengthen their reputation as one of the best new bands in the country with the release of their fifth self produced CD ‘Back Down to Earth’ recorded at well renowned Rooksmere Studios, Northants.
The Buzz started out as a 4 peice rock outfit roughly two years ago (2003). The original lineup was of Sandy, Grant, Mike and rich. The band played afew gigs around burton, mainly supporting a band called Cedrics Belly. But, after about 2 gigs, Mike the drummer decided he was moving to brazil (Or it might have been bristol, we cant remember) so the search was on for another drummer to replace him. While the band started advertising and so on Rich’s cousin Matt was asked to fill in just for one or two gigs so the band could keep going. At the first practice with matt grant said ‘are you sure hes not mike in desguise?’ as matt had learnt the entire set in just under a week. They played the gig at The Union in burton, and soon afterwards all three members asked matt to join them as their permanent drummer.Of course he accepted, and that is how we have the lineup today.
The band continued to gig around the local area, stretching as far as the vic in derby supporting other local bands, but they did begin to notice some people that turned up at every gig.Admitedly it was a small number, but that didnt matter, they had fans. In the early part of 2005 The Buzz all drove to a studios outside lichfield and recorded a 3 track ep in what was literally someones back shed. Since the recording of this ep it has – Boosted our confidence in ourselves, Boosted our fanbase, Sold over 50 copies, Got them gigs in derby and nottingham, Got them a deal with Riff Raff Records, Secured them a clothing deal with quick-biteme. Whats next for the buzz? I have no idea, but it’s going to be fun finding out……
