Beat My Guest Interview

Cutting to the chase this year you won one the fly on the wall battle of the bands. Were you confident you would whip some bum or was it a surprise to you?

Winning the Fly on The Wall B.O.T.B’s was amazing for us. From the first round at the start, we had no idea where we would go with this event. We were just pleased to be involved, and wasn’t sure how we would do. When we made it through, we started to think this is getting big. So when we were competing in the final, we just gave it everything we got and enjoyed it, and won! We were surprised! It wasn’t the winning that we felt good about, it was the time we got to spend with other new bands, who are all awesome! We made lots of new friends, and has been useful for our future plans.

Whats in the beat my guest diary over the next few months then after this success?

We don’t have any major plans at the moment, we are just looking forward to gigging with new bands we have met on the way from past events, such as on the upcoming 7th of September were are playing with the fantastic Jimmy the Squirrel, and on the 20th were playing with the entertaining Mr. wolf, both of these events at junction 7. Bands like these are great to play with, and we look forward to having a pint and getting to know each other more.

At the minute your looking for a trumpet player, how’s the search been and if not well you can take this moment to say why all trumpet players out there should want to be in your band.

To be honest the search isn’t going great, we have had a few, but they have either been too young, or are too far to travel to practice. But for all you listeners out there, you wont regret being in BMG. Were not just a band, were a group of best friends who love to have a laugh, and you get to take the mick out of our ginger drummer, what more could you want in a band?!

Apart from your very first where was your most enjoyable and memorable gig and what made it so special?

Well we will have to probably say…Rock city. It was a huge opportunity, and was probably a one off for us. We got to meet the great ‘Deftones’ as they were headlining the main stage. They were great to talk to, and were friendly! We enjoyed every moment of the gig, and played in front of the biggest crowd we have ever pulled in. It was amazing.

Have you had any label interest at all? And if not any particular label youd like to be on?

We haven’t had any major offers, just a few promotional companies and record company’s willing to help us out, but there hasn’t really been any one jumping to our doorstep or anything. I think we can be to blame; we just don’t put in half as much effort to get noticed as others do. It’s quite hard, as half our band is still in education, so there have always been other priorities. So put it this way, we have a year to get signed, others wise some of us will be in university. So we are happy for any label really, no specific choice!

For those you haven’t seen you live what can people expect to get from a live show?

Well we try and make our music as lively and ‘happy’ as possible, we don’t dance a great lot, although our energy is expressed through our music itself, so you won’t see anyone standing still at the back, normally everyone gets there grove on and enjoys our music. We love to see people dance to our music, it’s the best feeling.

How has recording gone for the band and can we expect any new songs anytime soon?

Well we have just released our new re-recorded Beer not bombs with kactus records (although we had to call the song ‘Get funky!’ on their CD as they couldn’t promote beer for kids!)

Were are pleased with the result, and are thankful for the time they spent with us. We do infact have 3 tracks on the making. What we meen by this is that only half the band are recorded on it and we have never got round to putting the brass on! So don’t expect anything too soon.

Anything else you would like saggy pants readers to know about this band?

If you can, try and get down to at least one gig if you haven’t already, we will try to entertain you, and we love a chitchat after, (and a pint *hint*) so hopefully we can guarantee something fun for you to do on a Friday night.
