Band Bio

The Legion of doom (Bio)

"Tripping over wires and equipment, as well as playing each other’s guitars whenever they saw fit. They continuously spewed out complex, intricate, progressive tunes, which basically seemed like one epic and perfect jamming session. The drummer kept them on the case though" (A Drop In The Ocean)

The Legion @ Bunkers Hill A Drop In The Ocean @ TOA

Formed in the summer of 2003 by five guys just wanting to play some heavy riffs, the Legion gradually realised that what they were doing could hold its own amongst the Nottingham music scene. After recording their first demo tracks, founder member and guitarist Aidan left to concentrate on his other band, to be followed several months later by original drummer Ben. Deciding early on that settling on an 'average' singer for the sake of it would compromise their sound, the Legion play instrumental rock, and have been compared in the press to the likes of Mastodon, early Metallica, High on Fire, and System of a Down

Recruiting MacBastard on drums, the remaining three members, Ribble (Guitar), Trappisto (Bass), and Ul Ra (Guitar) headed for the studio to record their 3-track EP 'Manifesto the First', all the while gigging regularly. Received to universal acclaims, this sets out their stall as one of the heaviest bands to come out of Nottingham for many years, all the while retaining an intricacy of sound often eschewed by their contemporaries.

Nearly two years on, the Legion is just getting into gear with a successful tour under its belt and a number of gigs lined up. Another tour is being mooted for the summer, and a new batch of tracks is being put together. Now is the time to join the Legion.
